Interior design is basically an art and science that involve many processes like research, planning, coordinating, and implementing the changes. A person engaged in this profession usually studies different aspects of interior decoration such as architecture, textiles, painting, and furniture making. The various changes made in a room mainly depend on the size, theme, purpose, budget, and final appearance.
There are two main factors involved while designing a room. Firstly, the primary factor is the theme or the designing concept. It can be based on the client’s requirements and secondly, the interior decorator analyses the available options and applies his or her knowledge and expertise in the specific theme or concept. There are several factors that affect the success of the interior decoration plan. The major factors are the time required for the project, type of rooms to be decorated, budget, material and labor costs, and the consulting basis.
An interior designer prepares the complete plan and then seeks the approval from the client. He or she also works with other professional designers, architects, floor contractors, and acoustical engineers in order to provide the best result. Usually, interior designers have to follow a set of rules and regulations laid down by the state as well as federal agencies. Interior decoration requires extensive talent and technical expertise, and as such it is extremely competitive. There are also various associations, and guilds which provide training and support to interior decoration designers.
